Recently, VCM and the Manure Processors vzw officially launched the Ivan Tolpe Prize at the Vroman family in Meulebeke, in the presence of Bart Naeyaert, deputy for Agriculture
The prize focuses on innovative solutions to demand-driven problems within the agricultural sector, such as process optimisation, energy efficiency and optimal valorisation of nutrients from manure.
Any initiative that contributes to these challenges is eligible to participate.
During the launch, attendees were introduced to Green Service, winner of the previous Ivan Tolpe Prize. Their progressive farm-scale nutrient and energy recovery system converts manure into potable water (for pigs) after several treatments and a nutrient-rich concentrate, providing a sustainable and efficient solution for waste management on farms.
After five successful editions, VCM is introducing a new award: the Ivan Tolpe Student Award. This award honours the best year-end work in the field of manure processing.
